The upcoming wine auction, Autumn Treasures from Private Cellars - UK Edition, is listed on Bonhams' official calendar, presenting an array of highly sought-after vintages from prestigious European vineyards. The sale features exceptional lots from private cellars, highlighting both the enduring appeal of mature Bordeaux and the intense demand for top-tier Burgundy. Among the premier offerings is a six-bottle lot of Château Le Pin, 2000, from the Pomerol region, packaged in its original wooden case. This rare Pomerol vintage is highly prized for its rich, concentrated character and limited production. Another standout is a three-bottle lot of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Montrachet, 2002, a legendary white Burgundy from the Côte de Beaune, sourced from the cellar of a sophisticated collector. This lot, housed in its original wooden case, exhibits some natural colour variation and had its band removed for inspection, representing a rare opportunity to acquire one of the world's most celebrated white wines.
From a well-maintained trade cellar, the auction also features a six-bottle lot of Petrus, 1990, another Pomerol benchmark. These bottles are noted to have fill levels all into the neck, with slightly creased and nicked labels, and are presented in an original wooden case. From the same well-maintained trade cellar comes a ten-bottle offering of Château Lafite Rothschild, 1982, a legendary Pauillac vintage. These bottles show fill levels of one into the neck and nine at the very top shoulder, with lightly corroded capsules (one torn) and lightly bin-soiled labels, including six nicked, one torn, and one stained. These physical details reflect the authentic journey of these historic wines through decades of careful cellaring.
The auction also presents other legendary Bordeaux vintages, such as the Château La Mission Haut-Brion, 1989, offered in an eleven-bottle lot. The vintage of Château La Mission Haut-Brion, 1989, is widely regarded as a modern masterpiece, known for its smoky complexity and immense power. Similarly, the Château Haut-Brion, 1989, is represented by a five-bottle lot, sharing the legendary status of its neighbor in Pessac-Léognan. From the Right Bank, a twelve-bottle lot of Château Cheval Blanc, 1990, brings one of the most celebrated vintages of this Saint-Émilion estate to the market, renowned for its opulent texture and aromatic complexity. Additionally, a twelve-bottle lot of Château Margaux, 1982, represents one of the defining vintages of the Left Bank, showcasing the elegance and longevity that have made Margaux a cornerstone of serious cellars.
