In a sale that closed on 24 September 2026, Bonhams presented its Old Master Paintings auction, which realized a total of £340,124[1]. The auction house successfully found buyers for 72 of 123 lots, establishing a sell-through rate of 58.5%[1] for the session.
The leading lot of the sale was a portrait by Louise Rose Julie Duvidal De Montferrier depicting François Ferdinand Philippe of Orleans as a boy. The oil on canvas work, which features the young subject carrying a sword over his shoulder, was consigned from a private collection in the United Kingdom. The reverse of the canvas is inscribed and dated with the subject's birth date of 14 August 1818 in Neuilly. Another notable portrait in the sale, depicting a lady in a white and gold brocaded dress embellished with pearls, was executed by a follower of François Clouet and also came from a private collection in the United Kingdom.
