Bonhams Concludes Travel & Exploration Auction
The sale featured historic atlases, travelogues, and photography collections

The Bonhams auction, Travel & Exploration: including the Roger Ward Photography Collection, has concluded. Leading the offerings was a first edition in Spanish of Jan Blaeu's Nuevo Atlas o Teatro del Mundo, which carried an estimate of £180,000 to £220,000.
Among the artwork, a portrait of a Yunnanese boy by Vera Southby was estimated at £6,000 to £8,000. Two street scenes of Gilman's Bazaar in Hong Kong by Marciano Antonio Baptista each carried estimates of £3,000 to £5,000.
Photographic works included John William Lindt's Picturesque New Guinea, estimated at £5,000 to £7,000. Additionally, a China and East Asia album compiled by Julius Blaas and a group of China views from the nineteenth century were each estimated at £4,000 to £6,000. Finally, Awnsham and John Churchill's A Collection of Voyages and Travels was estimated at £3,000 to £5,000.
