In a sale that closed on 16 September 2026, Bonhams held its Fine Jewellery auction in London, realizing a total of £1,517,246[1]. The auction house successfully sold 194 of 281 lots offered, achieving a 69% sell-through[1] rate. The results demonstrate steady demand for signed period pieces and certified colored gemstones, anchoring the mid-market jewelry sector in London.
According to the official results published by Bonhams, the sale was led by a Van Cleef & Arpels coral sautoir from circa 1971. The 1970s revival of the long sautoir necklace is represented in this piece by a pendant of woven cylindrical form decorated with quatrefoil patterns, set between coral cabochons and fluted beads on a ropetwist chain. The piece was accompanied by an authenticity certificate from IAJA Expertise dated 7th July 2026. Other notable lots included a diamond single-stone ring weighing 11.65 carats cased by 'Kevin' of Singapore, an Art Deco diamond bracelet mounted in platinum with French assay marks, and a cushion-cut sapphire ring certified by both the SSEF and GCS as being of Kashmir origin with no indication of heating.

The performance of these highlighted lots indicates a consistent interest in historic jewelry design, from the geometric openwork of the circa 1930 diamond bracelet to the bold, textured gold and coral combinations of the early 1970s. The presence of independent gemological reports, such as those certifying the Kashmir origin of the sapphire ring or the authenticity of the Van Cleef & Arpels sautoir, remains a key factor in the realization of these final prices.
