Louis Vuitton Watch Division Uses Specialized Collaborations to Build Collector Credibility
The luxury house's collaboration with Singer Vehicle Design highlights a long-term strategy to establish serious horological credentials among ultra-high-net-worth collectors.

Louis Vuitton's watch division is utilizing highly specialized, independent partnerships to reposition the brand's horological credibility among collectors.
Monochrome Watches reported that the brand's travel-watch strategy evolved from the launch of its micro-painted worldtimer in 2014[1] to a time-only Escale relaunch in 2024[1], establishing a design language designed to support more complex dual-time releases. This multi-year product cycle reflects a sustained capital commitment to manufacturing and artisanal crafts, moving the label away from typical fashion-watch classifications.
This institutional focus on horological authority is further demonstrated by a recent collaboration with Singer Vehicle Design, a prominent restomod Porsche specialist. According to SJX Watches, the partnership originated from a dashboard clock request for a prior automotive commission, resulting in bespoke vehicles equipped with removable mechanical dashboard clocks and a ceramic Tambour wristwatch.[2] Crucially, the project was executed specifically by the luxury house's watch division rather than the broader fashion brand, emphasizing engineering alignment over standard lifestyle marketing.
These hybrid luxury commissions introduce distinct valuation and liquidity challenges. When assets span multiple categories—such as a custom vehicle paired with a removable clock and a wristwatch—they defy standard appraisal methodologies. Traditional automotive appraisers may lack the expertise to value bespoke horological complications, while watch specialists cannot easily assess the vehicle's restoration quality. This division of asset classes complicates the underwriting process for collateral-based lending and estate planning, as the combined market value of the package may not easily translate to individual secondary-market transactions.
The strategic incentive for the luxury house is clear: by aligning with highly respected independent makers in both the automotive and horological sectors, the brand seeks to capture market share among ultra-high-net-worth collectors who prioritize mechanical execution. However, the secondary-market performance of these highly customized, multi-category assets remains unmeasured. The available record does not establish a universal fiduciary or committee requirement for that decision.

Hands-On: The Practical Elegance of the Louis Vuitton Escale Twin Zone - Monochrome WatchesAug 21, 2026
Source passage
With such a name, it was just a matter of time before seeing travellers’ watches coming back to the Escale collection of Louis Vuitton – remember that escale is French for stopover. The inaugural version of this watch, first released in 2014 as a worldtimer featuring a highly distinctive dial with micro-painted flags, caused quite a sensation and became rather emblematic for the brand. When LV relaunched the Escale in 2024 , back then a time-only model, it felt a bit like a letdown, as if something was missing. Looking back in the mirror, we can now understand that these classic watches were meant to establish the new design language. Earlier this year, travellers’ watches came back , to our great delight, including a revamped version of the much-appreciated Worldtime . Next to it was another watch. A bit more discreet, deceptively simpler, but no less practical as a travel companion and undeniably elegant: the Louis Vuitton Escale Twin Zone. There are multiple ways to create a traveller’s watch, a.k.a. a timekeeping instrument that allows you to consult multiple time zones on a single dial and to change from one time zone to another with ease (well, at least that’s what we wish all of these watches would provide). The simplest and most common way is the so-called GMT watch , equipped with an additional 24-hour hand in the centre (most often) to display an additional time zone

A Dashboard Clock Gives Birth to the Louis Vuitton x Singer Porsche 911 - SJX WatchesAug 17, 2026
Source passage
A cult brand specialising in “restomod” Porsche 911s, specifically the 964, Singer Vehicle Design’s latest commission is pair reimagined by Louis Vuitton. The Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – Classic and – Classic Turbo are striking examples of engineering, artisanal craft, and luxury branding all rolled into one. The pair of 911s originated with an order for a mechanical dashboard clock for a prior Singer commission, which led the two brands to collaborate on this duo. Both cars are naturally fitted with a hand-wound, eight-day clock fitted into the dashboard, but which can be removed and transformed into a desk clock. And the Turbo also include an ivory ceramic Tambour wristwatch as a bonus. Interestingly, this pair of 911s is more of a collaboration between Singer and Louis Vuitton’s watch division rather than the wider company. The dashboard clock request that gave birth to these two cars began with a Singer 911 parked outside a Louis Vuitton watch event several years ago. The two 911s underline the long established common denominations between cars and watches, ranging from fine engineering to a shared audience. Many have come before, from Porsche Design and IWC, Ferrari and Girard-Perregaux, to today’s McLaren and Richard Mille. The Singer 911s stand out for being one-offs – both are beautifully executed – and priced at a level that reflects the strength of the demand f
