Audemars Piguet Launches Certified Pre-Owned Platform Offering Consignment and Auctions
The Swiss manufacture is introducing 'The Watch Keepers,' a digital marketplace that manages authentication, custody, and peer-to-peer sales without relying on third-party dealers.

Audemars Piguet has launched a dedicated digital certified pre-owned platform called "The Watch Keepers" to facilitate direct peer-to-peer consignment and auctions of its authenticated timepieces. The initiative represents a major structural shift in how the brand interacts with the secondary market, moving away from traditional dealer-led networks to establish a direct, centralized relationship with collectors. By acting as the intermediary rather than the direct buyer, the manufacture provides a secure environment for transactions while maintaining control over the presentation and authentication of its historical catalog.
According to Watches by SJX, the Swiss watchmaker acts as a facilitator rather than a buyer or seller, giving consignors the choice of listing their timepieces at a fixed price or through an auction hosted directly on the platform.[2] To qualify for the program, WWD reported that watches must be past a minimum holding period from their original sellout date, and would-be sellers must submit their timepiece’s serial number and proof of ownership before shipping the watch to an Audemars Piguet service center via insured courier.[3] Once received, the brand’s watchmakers verify the authenticity against company records, assess the condition, and list the watch with a detailed condition grade for the case, dial, and bracelet, as detailed by WWD.
This centralized, direct-to-consumer approach contrasts with the certified pre-owned framework established by its chief competitor. While Rolex launched its certified pre-owned program in 2022,[1], as reported by Monochrome Watches, that system leverages a global network of authorized dealers to handle pricing, customer interactions, and local inventory. As Watches by SJX observed, Audemars Piguet’s direct sales model means the brand must take on a much larger operational role, managing the entire digital marketplace, photography, and logistics from its Le Brassus headquarters and regional service centers.
The inclusion of an auction format is a notable feature for a brand-owned pre-owned platform. Watches by SJX noted that the optional bidding format makes practical sense for a brand like Audemars Piguet, particularly during periods of highly volatile valuations, as it prevents sellers from leaving money on the table. Hodinkee reported that throughout the listing and bidding process, the watch remains the property of the seller but is held in the secure custody of Audemars Piguet.[4] This custody arrangement ensures that the physical asset is protected and ready for immediate dispatch once a transaction concludes, with the buyer receiving a manufacturer functioning service guarantee, as documented by Hodinkee.
While the program offers clear benefits in terms of trust and authentication, several financial mechanics remain undisclosed. Monochrome Watches reported that Rolex's certified pre-owned service has become a significant revenue generator, citing LuxeConsult and Morgan Stanley data tracking its performance in 2025,[1] and 2026,[1]. In contrast, Watches by SJX highlighted that Audemars Piguet has not yet disclosed the commission fees it plans to charge, leaving it unclear how the brand intends to monetise the platform or how the transaction costs will be split between buyers and sellers.
The launch of the platform is a long-anticipated milestone that reflects a broader professionalization of the secondary watch market. By providing a secure, brand-backed channel for buyers who might otherwise struggle to access highly sought-after models, Audemars Piguet is positioning itself to capture a wider audience of collectors. The digital marketplace, which is launching initially in Switzerland and Europe before a planned global rollout, allows the manufacture to support the long-term life cycle of its watches while gathering data on secondary-market transactions and pricing trends.

Industry News – Audemars Piguet Launches The Watch Keepers, Its Online Platform for Certified Pre-Owned WatchesOct 26, 2026
Source passage
The concept of Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) isn’t new to the watch industry, but it has gained quite some momentum in recent years, in particular when Rolex launched its own service , now known to be a significant revenue generator for the Geneva-based brand (USD 590 million in 2025, already more than that as of September 2026, according to LuxeConsult/Morgan Stanley). Now that many brands have embraced the concept of CPO, it was about time for Audemars Piguet to release its long-anticipated Certified Pre-Owned watch programme. Its name: The Watch Keepers. One of its key features: it is an online platform accessible here , currently open in Europe and Switzerland, before progressively expanding across regions worldwide. As said, Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) programmes are not new to watch brands and several higher-end watchmakers have already developed their own take on the idea to sell second-hand, authenticated watches. Large-scale brands such as JLC or Vacheron have already introduced their programmes, while several independent watchmakers, such as MB&F or F.P. Journe, have embraced the idea too – all with slight differences in the approach. Yet, in 2022, Rolex’s announcement of its own RCPO programme certainly changed the game even more, and the idea of acquiring a second-hand watch from the brand is now well established. It’s now Audemars Piguet’s turn to release its own version

Audemars Piguet Launches CPO PlatformOct 26, 2026

Audemars Piguet has finally launched its long-rumoured certified pre-owned (CPO) programme, The Watch Keepers . The digital platform acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers, giving consignors the choice of selling at a fixed price or through an auction. Audemars Piguet is neither a buyer nor the seller, instead it is the facilitator. The move comes at a time when the secondary market for luxury watches is becoming increasingly professionalised, with brands taking a more active role through CPO. As noted earlier this year , the opportunity goes beyond earning revenue from watches already sold: it gives brands greater control over the pre-owned buying experience previously left to dealers and auction houses. Unlike Rolex, which leverages its global network of authorised dealers to handle pricing and customer interactions for its own CPO programme , Audemars Piguet’s direct sales model means that it has to take on a bigger role. As a result, The Watch Keepers becomes the intermediary between the seller and the buyer, registering both parties and validating the authenticity of the watch. The Watch Keepers also handles all photography, and prepares the listings with verified technical details and a condition assessment. This takes much of the preparation off the seller’s hands and should give buyers greater confidence in the watch’s specifications and condition. It also h
